A detailed itinerary of this self-drive tour of the Baltics of 13 days:
Day 1. … – VILNIUS
Arrival in Vilnius. Pick-up your car, drive to hotel (7 km), free time, overnight in Vilnius.
Day 2. VILNIUS (Lithuania)
Day for exploring Vilnius.
Day 3. VILNIUS – KERNAVE – TRAKAI – KAUNAS (Lithuania)
Drive to the first historic capital of Lithuania, Kernave (40 km), which is now a world famous archeological site protected by UNESCO. Visit to Trakai (40 km), yet another ancient capital of Lithuania. Stroll in the town along the narrow streets withtypical buildings, kenesa, the praying house or Caraims, the local ethnic minority, the medieval Trakai Castle among the lakes (entrance to Castle Museum 6 eur). Trakai is within the Trakai National Park of History.Continue to Kaunas. Suggestion to visit in Kaunas: the biggest in the region ethnographic open-air museum of Lithuania in Rumsiskes (20 km to Kaunas), the baroque monastery of Pazaislis, 9th Fort, old town, city centre. Overnight in Kaunas.
Day 4. KAUNAS – KLAIPEDA (Lithuania)
Short visit of Kaunas – the old town with the pedestrian Avenue of Freedom. Those interested in the art of thebeginning of the 20th, would visit the Art Gallery of M.K. Ciurlionis (the outstanding artist of Lithuania). Departure toKlaipda. Take the highway A2 (200 km) or take the national route along the river Nemunas (the so called "Panemune Castle route". Arrival to Klaipeda, overnight.
Day 5. KLAIPEDA – CURONIAN SPIT – KLAIPEDA (Lithuania)
Take a ferry to the Curonian Spit and drive to Nida (55 km), visit Juodkrante en-route (Mount of Witches). The Curonian spit is a 98 km long and ~1.5 km wide sand-dune spit, separating the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. 51 km of the spit belongs to Lithuania, the rest - to Kaliningrad. The spit is on the World Heritage list of the UNESCO. Return to Klaipeda for overnight.
Day 6. KLAIPEDA – PALANGA – Hill of Crosses – Rundale – RIGA (Lithuania – Latvia)
Drive to Palanga (30 km), enjoy the white sandy beach, stroll in the botanical garden, visit the Amber Museum. Then drive in the direction of Siauliai (120 km), and stop by the world-unique Hill of Crosses (14 km beyondSiauliai). Then proceed to Latvia, Rundale and visit the magnificent local baroque palace, constructed by Rastrelli. Continue to Riga (80 km), arrival and overnight.
Day 7. RIGA
Day for exploring Riga.
Day 8. RIGA – Park Gauja – PARNU – SAAREMAA (Latvia – Estonia)
Departure to the National Park of Gauja (55km), visit of the park and Turaida castle (museum of history, some may claim it is too similar to Trakai Castle Museum near Vilnius in Lithuania, but the impressive panoramic views from the tower are much different). Departure for Estonia. Arrive in hanseatique Parnu (175 km), the main resort town of Estonia. Continuation to Kuressaare, the capital of the isle of Saaremaa (80 km + ferry + 50 km). Arrival and overnight.
Day 9. SAAREMAA (Estonia)
Day for exploring the beautiful islands of Estonia. Overnight in Kuressaare.
Day 10. SAAREMAA – TALLINN (Estonia)
Take the direction of Tallinn (170 km).
Day 11. TALLINN (Estonia)
Day for exploring Tallinn: the lower and the upper parts of the old town, the open-air ethnographical museum of Rocca al Mare, visit to Kadriorg park, Pirita (the ancient Convent of St Bridget – Pirita Klooster).
Day 12. TALLINN – Park Lahemaa – TALLINN (Estonia)
Nature lovers may choose to drive to the National Park of Lahemaa (80 km from Tallinn). Others will find enough in the city. Overnight in Tallinn.

Free time, departure to the airport, drop-off the car.
The cars are all new (up to 3 years old) and rented from our trusted and contracted rent-a-car companies. As always at the time of confirmation rental cars are beeing confirmed with category/class and not with a certain make. Rent-a-car company is obliged to upgrade to a higher car category if the booked one is not available at the time of delivery to the customer. Driver must be at least 21 years of age and must hold a valid driver's licence with at least 2 years of experience. Collission and Theft Insurances are included with excess amount of 435 Eur.
